Baldrick has been in Blackadder's service longer than either of them
care to remember. Yet although his master treats him with the sort of contempt usually reserved for lepers, dogs and Catholics, he remains intensely loyal. Baldrick doesn't know the meaning of the word 'disobedient'. Other words he doesn't know the meaning of include 'intelligent', 'hygiene' and 'bath'. A kindly soul whose hair and clothes provide a home for a wide variety of native insects, Baldrick's lack of formal education is compensated for by his basic streetwise cunning. He has been known to dress up as a woman capable of proving irresistible to the terminally insane, Scotsmen or someone who's never seen a woman before.
